The Royal Trekking
The trek got its name from the one luminary that did this short and easy trek, none other than Prince Charles himself This is a short trek with relatively less uphill climbs than most treks. Not having good lodge facilities on this route it is less crowded compared to other trekking routes in the Annapurna region. But if you do not have much time and are looking at a trek that is easy but one that allows you spectacular mountain views, we would recommend that you opt for this trek. The trail on this trek passes through rice fields, forested ridge tops, tals (lakes) and temples. Our excursion begins with a fascinating sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley. Over the last two thousand years, the sacred cultural of the Newars, its indigenous inhabitants, spawned an artistic efferescence unmatched in the Himalayan region. The Valleys pagoda temples and stupas, vibrant festivals and quaint streetscapes derive from a unique amalgamation of Hinduism and Buddhism give the entire place a themepark-like atmosphere. Seven of the Valley's monument have been honored as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. After enjoying the cultural treats of Kathmandu, we fly to Pokhara and drive to Bijayyapur from where the trek starts to be rewarded with mesmerizing views of Machhapuchhre (6997m) and other peaks of the Annapurna Himal. Passing through charming villages, we end our walk at Begnastal, the second largest lake in the Pokhara area. Lush green forests, glacial lakes and Himalayan giant that seem close enough to touch are the highlights of this trip.We spend a day relaxing at Pokhara, an enchanting lakeside town at the foot of the Annapurna range. The trip ends with a drive back to Kathmandu.
